| Editor Reviews: Amazon.com Product Description: The remanufactured, feature-rich Canon Pixma MP780 all-in-one photo printer delivers the ultimate combination of speed and quality to your home-office projects. It can print or copy up to 25 pages per minute (ppm) in black and up to 17 ppm in color, while a 4-by-6-inch borderless photo takes about 36 seconds to produce. You'll also achieve up to Super G3 fax speed in color and black-and-white. Adding to the speed is the USB 2.0 interface, which enables the fastest image transfers and scanning speeds possible today. To further increase productivity, the integrated 35-page auto document feeder helps plow through larger copy and fax jobs. A couple of other time savers include the dual paper path, which keeps a second type of paper on hand for printing, and the built-in two-sided printing function (called "duplexing"), which also helps preserve paper. Plus, the electronic sorting function automatically collates your copies, so you don't have to do it yourself. Unlike other systems, the nozzle configuration in bubble jet printers is simple, which is one reason the MP780 is smaller and more dense. Using its superior semiconductor manufacturing technology, Canon developed an ultra-high-precision, multinozzle print head. This solved the dilemma of color inconsistency by positioning a mirror-image line of 128 nozzles (600 dpi pitch for each color) at a half-pitch offset from the existing line. The configuration also provides the added advantage of enabling high-resolution printing at 1,200 dpi. Meanwhile, the unit's ContrastPlus five-color ink system--four dye-based inks plus a pigment-based black ink--produces exceptional photos along with laser-quality text. Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) uses a high-performance 1,856-nozzle print head that ejects precise and consistent droplets as small as 2 picoliters. The results? Outstanding resolution of up to 4,800 x 1,200 color dpi and clear, detailed images. When scanning photos, the printer produces brilliant 2,400 dpi scans with intense 48-bit color depth. In addition, the MP780 includes a copy of Easy PhotoPrint 3.0. While most photo-editing software applications brighten the entire image, Easy PhotoPrint 3.0 accurately detects the subject's face and adjusts the skin to the optimum tone. Choose from the one-click automatic function to correct the entire image all at once, or choose manual to correct just a selected area. The software also lets you select and print any image on your PC, perfectly trim images, correct images using lab-quality retouching features, correct red-eye, smooth facial lines and skin tone, sharpen faces, remove blemishes, and print in a variety of sizes and layouts. A couple of additional functions round out the feature set. First, the Canon Think Tank System, which offers five individual ink tanks, lets you replace only the color that runs out rather than the entire cartridge, thus saving unused ink (a low-ink sensor alerts you when a tank's ink level is low). This results in higher efficiency and lower printing costs. Second, the printer offers direct photo printing, so you can connect to any PictBridge-compatible digital camera or DV camcorder and print. It's simple, and requires no computer to work. The MP780 measures 19.1 by 12.4 by 18.6 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.
